less computer usage with a brighter smile to boot

I just realized how incredibly lazy I have gotten about blogging in the past month. I've thought about blogging, even made a list in my heads of the things I would blog about, but never actually sat down and done it.

Since getting a new 37" TV (yes, I'm saying that with pride, don't judge me, it's not everyday you get a new fancy smancy TV), I have been using my laptop less. Before it was on my regular desktop, but because of not having enough grounding plugs around this old school, full of characters, apartment, I had to choose between the computer or the TV. Of course we all know my answer. Maybe I lost you there when I said grounding plugs, but just nod and smile, it's okay, because I was too before I moved in. So now I'm using my laptop more again. And because it's still suffering from the "white screen of death" which is frustrating considering you can't see anything on the screen unless you hold a certain spot of the laptop in a specific way. Holding that one spot and trying to navigate/type with one hand, no thank you. I figured out that I could connect the laptop to the TV and just basically have a 37" screen. Pretty nice. Except sometimes I'll want to watch a show, or Sean want to watch a football game, or we will end up playing a Wii game.

Result = less computer time for me. And I'm okay with that. I like having more things to do. In fact, I started obsessing over this puzzle book I bought during my travel back to frigid Rochester from chilly Houston. I don't normally stick to that kind of things for long at all, but so far I am. And I'm quite impressed with myself. You know doing that kind of thing is good for the brain in the long run, right? I would hate to fall to dementia before age 90 or even 100. If I live that long anyway.

If anyone is wondering about my "new year resolution" this year, I've decided to change it up. First of all, I'm not even going to call it that, it's too temporary. Same for the word diet. I prefer to call it maintaining my lifestyle for the better, in the long run. One of the new resolutions just happened to start right before new year for a reason. My birthday happened three months ago, and my wonderful parents decided to gift me with a teeth whitening treatment at BriteSmile the next time I went to Houston. I finally got this treatment done last week before I left Houston. What they do is, they sit you there, put a bunch of stuff in your mouth to keep saliva away and your lips stretched open, then apply some protection stuff to the lips and gum, and something else on the teeth. Then they turn on the pretty blue ultraviolet light, and put on groovy orange sunglasses to protect your eyes. So with all that junk in my mouth, I basically sat there for an hour grinning whether I liked it or not, fell asleep once or twice, and when it was over, this is what I looked like (before and after):

According to the guy who did this for me, I am at least seven shades nicer. Victory! I've never been the greatest about brushing my teeth and being careful when I drink/eat anything that can stain my teeth severely in the long run. So there it is, my new resolution. Brush more regularly than before, reduce coffee consumption, stop drinking dark colored soda cold turkey. The last one was tough because I had started drinking Dr.Pepper and Coca Cola again since I started working. Withdrawals are no fun at all, but it's for the best. And it will help with my eating habit as well. Hopefully I won't be craving for sweets as often either. I guess it is kind of a double resolution. My exercise will still be primarily walking for hours while at work, as long I get to keep the job, and using the Wii Fit when my feet are not hurting from said job.

One last resolution = blog more. :) What's yours?
