A five here and a five there, the birds will come a-singin'

Yesterday The day before yesterday, was our 55 months. Fifty-five! I just like that number, double five. Unlike this one particular woman who has bad luck every time the number five comes up. That particular woman was Novalee Nation played by Natalie Portman in "Where the Heart Is". I love that movie. And Natalie. I'd do her if I swung that way. But I don't. Is 'swung' even the appropriate way to say it, because it sounds incredibly silly. I should really read the book. Or more books in general. I started one several months ago and I just finally hit the halfway mark during the holidays. Since then, I've resorted to doing puzzles in this puzzle book that I bought at the Newark airport and gotten addicted to. Now it's a little bit of minesweeper. Pathetic, I know, but remember it's good to keep the brain active!

Now, on to some good things:
1. I was offered a non-seasonal position at my store. Hooray, Sara is here to stay! [Brief happy dance inserted here, feel free to join me.]

2. I bought a new (used) dresser to replace my former pitiful dresser that was neither sturdy enough nor spacious enough. After some soul-searching, I found this precious blue dresser in a cute used furniture store in a small town outside of Rochester. And the best part of it is it has two separate drawers at the top. I love it!

3. Like I just said, I need space for my clothes. Unfortunately in the past few years, I let my wardrobe grow. I have a hard time letting go of things, even things I would never wear out in public (like my brilliant royal blue plastic looking pants that are so incredibly soft and warm on the inside). I am proud to say that I have a large box (and I mean large!) full of clothes! And not only that, it is actually overflowing. And even better, I think I will add even more to the pile. I should probably get a second box and keep it away from the boy since he kicked a hole into the first box out of frustration over a game of wii bowling. Yes, wii bowling, of all things. Don't ask, I wasn't there.

4. I'm finally trying to get back into photography again. I've been missing snowflake photography as of late, especially after seeing some photos that students from my program have taken.Isn't that beautiful? To be able to pluck a snowflake from the sky and photograph it super super close up before it melts? And yes, I actually photographed that. It's probably my most favorite one ever that I've done. But because I don't have the necessary (and ridiculously expensive) equipments to photograph snowflakes that well, I've resorted to other types of winter photography.

If you recall some of my recent fall photography, I did some "winter versions" of those photographs and then some. I've yet had a chance to edit them (note to self, install PhotoShop on laptop), but here is an idea of what I did.

Five birds. It is a good number.
