Please don't hyah-yah Daniel Larusso, he will break

I did not build my first snowman until a year ago, at age 23. Isn't that ridiculous? I mean it makes sense that I was never able to the first nineteen years of my life, considering I was born and raised in Houston, hence I was never exposed to snow. I don't know why I never did my first three years in Rochester, but last year was the last straw. I insisted to my boyfriend, who is apparently a "snowman builder expert", that we build one together. It was a cute three foot tall fellow with an empty beer bottle in it's stick-hand right on our little balcony.

This year, I am determined to do more winter activities. Like build a large snowman on an actual lawn instead of a balcony. And so we did.

We decided to name him Daniel Larusso. I insisted it had to have a karate-like name, only because it's hat looks like it could go on Jackie Chan's head. Doesn't it look very hyah-ya? Yeah, I thought so too. So Sean suggested the character's name from Karate Kid.

Other snow activities we've yet got to do before winter is over:
- Go polar-wave snowtubing in this small town outside of Rochester. The best part (aside from going down a snow chute like holy hell) will probably be not having to walk back up the hill. They will tow you right back up!
- Go sledding on a big hill, instead of the little pitiful hill outside our apartment. We just need more snow, but I'd be okay if we don't do this if we do polar-wave tubing.
- Try skiing together for the first time, or snowboarding for the second time. I get super nervous easily at the idea of going downhill and that I will lose control and break many bones (which I did most of the time -- minus the bone breaking -- when I tried snowboarding). But you know what, life is short and I can't always be afraid to face things.
- Build an igloo. Except I know this won't ever happen. One can only dream.

What are some of your favorite winter activities?

  1. That's a much better snowman than I've ever built! Though I haven't in like 5 years. I'm hoping we are done with snow for this winter (in MO) because I am so ready for Spring!
