I guess I will start from the beginning, but keep everything as simple as possible. Because well, there is so much. If you really want to know more details, whether you are a good friend or an interested reader, you can poke me privately any time. :)
May was pretty much a whirlwind for us..
- Sean was finishing up his last weeks of undergrad classes.
- I was working at my store, and taking care of odds and ends in my spare time.
- Because housing was more than twice as expensive, we decided to find a roommate. On Craigslist.
- We found a great person, who happened to live only five minutes away from our old apartment (which totally made everything that much easier) and found a great apartment close to both of their jobs (same company, different buildings).
- Because we knew we would be close to where Sean would work, we decided that he would sell his car and keep mine. He would use a bike for transportation. After all, it barely rains here so the weather is rarely an issue.
June had it's up and down..
- On the first, we pretty much packed up as much of our life as we could in our car (with 9 huge boxes being shipped for cheap). A close friend of mine and I hit the road and drove all the way to Houston without stopping for the night (26 plus hours of insanity, oh yes) Sean went his way to visit his friends and family.
- Showed my friend Houston some, spent a lot of time with other besties. Also spent a lot of time with my mom getting ready for a garage sale.
- Sean and I celebrated our five years anniversary in Houston. We celebrated with the money we earned from helping host the garage sale earlier that day.
- Hit the road by 1am and we were on our way to Phoenix to stay with friends of ours that we had not seen for at least a couple years. It was really nice to spend time with them, I couldn't have asked for better people to stay with. :)
- Continued on the road the next day and arrived to our new home by the end of the day. Basically slept on the floor the first night and spent the whole remainder of the week getting whatever furniture we need.
- The remainder of June was hard. I avoiaed talking to a lot of people for some reason. Because I wasn't settled in, I wasn't happy, so I started a private blog for my eyes only, to vent some things and to talk about other things. It has helped.
July has definitely gotten calm..
- I got to transfer to a store here, so I'm definitely happy that I'm not constantly at home. I'm currently job hunting for something photography related. There are definitely more opportunities here, but so far, no bites.
- I'm also happier now that we are both done with school and we have more time to just mellow out with each other. This has helped our relationship and we both totally deserved it.
- The roommate situation has worked out nicely. We all get along well, are comfortable enough to pick on each other, go out together sometimes just us three or with other people too.
- We have a pool (with a hot tub!) and fitness center right outside our apartment building. We have been taking advantage of those. :)
- I saved the best news for last. I already told quite a few people about this. 2-3 weeks into the internship, Sean got a random call from another team, about a full time job opportunity. He was actually under-qualified for the job, but with his impressive resume and goals, and he got the job. :) If only I could find something better for myself!
I think that's about it, that I can think of. It has been amazing here, the weather couldn't be better. It's constantly nice and sunny, but cool at night. We save a lot on electricity only because we haven't had the need to touch the A/C at all. It's that nice, that we haven't experienced rain since we got here. At least not that I know of.
Yeah. I'm happy. :)
Glad to know you're happy way over there on the other side of the states. Smiles Miss ya tons!
