happy go lucky

The past week has been amazing outside. Except for the past weekend when it was cold enough for ice-rain. Yech. Regarldless, the brilliant red tulips outside our living room windows have resisted against the cold.

After making the decision about California, we spent the afternoon outside our apartment. We tossed a frisbee back and forth for awhile. After my arm felt too limp to play anymore, we sat atop a little hill by our street and talked about possibilities. We were the cutest couple by default. Yes, I'm biased, but I can tell you there weren't any other couples sitting together as sweetly as us within our view.

I tried to make a dandelion necklace like I used to in elementary school. Either I was doing it wrong or my fingers were too big compared to my eight-year-old self. Instead I grabbed a piece of grass blade and put it between my thumbs. I let out a couple of pathetic whistles, before moving on to find a better blade of grass.
I cannot for the life of me whistle with my lips. Even though it's difficult to control the tune and the pace, it thrills me to be able to whistle with the help of nature. Sean, on the other hand, can whistle very well. Somehow, until recently, he never knew that you could do the same thing with a piece of grass. I showed him how to do it, and after some struggling and explaining, he was blowing with all his might. He may be in his late twenties, but once he gets excited or hyper, he is just like a kid (and I find it super cute, most of the time!) People gave us strange looks, and we laughed like there was no tomorrow. Okay, maybe not as if there was no tomorrow, but it was still very gleeful.
It was incredibly nice to relax and get our mind off everything, including the future. The next months will be crazy with planning and looking for a place and actually driving across the country and the list goes on. Right now, I'm just going to be a happy go lucky girl as best as I know how, whether I can carry a tune or not. If at all. :)
