an apple a day keeps the doctor away

About a week or so ago, the boyfriend and I did some apple picking. It was the first time for us, and not knowing where we will be the next year, I figured it was a must for us to do an activity where we could access an orchard easily. Then again, I honestly don't know if there are actually tons of apple orchards all over.

Aside from the expected apple picking, we explored the whole area. There were pumpkins still lingering about, but most of them had either started to rot or broke apart. All the good ones were in the shop waiting to be adopted. Unfortunately for them, we didn't take one home. I kind of wish we did, just so we could bake the seeds. Perhaps next year. :] We did bring home about eleven pounds of apples and paid only around seven bucks. It was a sweet deal, and led us to my baking a pie for the first time. The result was amazing (for my first time tyvm). I have to admit it would have been orgasmically amazing if I had added more apple and made the crust even thinner.

While we were there, we decided to explore the whole area and came across a lot of wilting sunflowers. They were GIGANTIC, probably at least as large as my head. In diameter, of course. Now that I know they grow there and apparently left untouched, I'm already anxious for the next few months to go by just so I can go see them blooming up close. And maybe pick some raspberries/blueberries for the hell of it even though I don't like them. Sean would be pleased otherwise.

  1. The only fruit I've picked was blueberries in South Jersey. I wish I had taken advantage of picking my own fruit while I was living in NY, but I guess I'll have to do a little research and find places in NJ.
