my version of an introduction

I am not going be one of those people who always start their blog saying oh I'm starting this so and so. Instead of dipping my toe into the water, I'm just going jump right in. I have blogged since my tween years. I do not need to do that anymore.
  1. I am an optimistic person (or at least I try to be). Not everything goes the way I would like it to, but I try not to complain (too much) and do what I can. I try to remind myself how well off I am, considering my situation (such as unemployment). Instead, I'm taking the opportunity of all the free time to do more personal things as my photography and some crafts. And job-hunting, unfortunately. It's why I named my blog "life's a playground" because I don't want to take my life way too seriously. I want to be able to smell the roses too.
  2. I know I'm not perfect and can be more insecure than necessary. Instead of letting my insecurity get to me, I learn to accept it and love myself as best as I can. I should always remember that I have an amazing boyfriend, Sean, of four years who loves me for who I am and tells me that I'm beautiful.
  3. For some reason, it surprises people to find out that I can be a complete dork. Maybe only because people see me as a quiet and reserved. Once I break out of shell with a new friend, they will see so much more.
  4. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. While I am proud to be Texan, I probably will not ever move back there, unless I end up going to graduate school. My home will always be there and I can visit when I need or want to.
  5. I'm deaf, but am often viewed as hard-of-hearing. I have the best of both worlds, with the ability to speak and communicate orally with hearing people, and to use sign language with deaf people. More about my deafness be for another post.
  6. I would hope my closest friends have noticed this, but I am very loyal and committed to my friends, especially if the other person does the same for me. If someone has problems, I will listen to them and be there for them. Of course, I don't want to always have to do that, but to have someone that I can just text any day and be like, hey let's hang out and go from there.
  7. I'm starting to get hungry, and I have leftover yummy Chinese takeout calling to me from the fridge. Not only that, but the first week of the SYTYCD competition is starting tonight. I love my TV time, it's an absolute must.
Keep an eye out for more posts to come, including some of my photography. :]
